Experienced Professionals

We provide unique opportunities for you to grow and manage your career while promoting a balance between professional success and a fulfilling personal life.

Each person has his or her own definition of success. Our goal is to help you reach yours. Read on to hear what success at AEM has looked like for the following experienced professionals.

Meet Shelby - Manager

Shelby’s induction into the AEM family was also the start of his CPA career. Since that day in 2007, he’s become a Manager and a key member of the firm’s manufacturing segment and, on the personal side of things, a father. He loves AEM’s team atmosphere, but the firm’s cultural values are what impress this new dad (who also happens to be an avid outdoorsman) the most. “There’s a family-first mentality here,” he says. “It’s obvious that our partners truly care about their employees, and that they will support them regardless of where they’re at in life.”

And when it is all about business, Shelby says he never wonders if his hard work is valued. “Getting regular feedback and expressions of appreciation—from both partners and coworkers—really does make a difference,” he says.

Meet Lesa - Senior Accountant

Lesa has devoted much of her practice to providing assurance services for manufacturers since joining AEM in 2014. Having started her career at a Big Four firm, she says she especially enjoys the opportunity to expand her horizons. “I’ve been able to do consulting and special projects that I would never have been able to do at a larger firm,” she says. “Of course, having time for the things I enjoy in my personal life, such as hanging out with loved ones and getting out on long runs, has been nice, too.”

In addition to AEM’s culture (she describes it as “team-oriented and flexible”), Lesa cites being appreciated—by both partners and clients—as a huge positive. “I’m able to add value to my clients’ businesses rather than simply complete a required audit,” she explains. “Plus, I feel like the firm does a great job of recognizing and empowering women.”
